Emma Johnson

SHE, HER, HERS

Emma is a first-year student at Lewis and Clark College (LC) studying environmental studies. She’s a member of LC’s Students Engaged in Eco Defense club, and especially loves beekeeping their multiple hives. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, learning to love and appreciate the outdoors through activities like hiking, skiing, and biking. She graduated from Highland High School as a valedictorian in 2022. During high school, she participated in several environmental action projects including working on a team to commit the Salt Lake City School District to 100% clean energy by 2030, helping formulate a youth climate justice curriculum with a local organization, and writing about a variety of environmental issues as editor in chief of her high school newspaper.

Emma is excited to establish roots in the sustainability community in Oregon and continue to help people, especially youth, feel empowered about the environment.
