Happy New Year from Oregon Green Schools

2017 was a great year for Oregon Green Schools. We celebrated 20 years of greening schools across Oregon; received a grant from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality to help bring green teams into rural schools through our Sustainability Captain Program; completed our Strategic Plan, and started a YouTube Channel!

2017 also saw our long-time chair Laurel Bates, and past-chair Bailey Payne, move on from the Board (though they are both still Regional Coordinators and very active with Oregon Green Schools!), which ushered in Jackie Wilson, Regional Coordinator for Bend-area schools and long-time Board member in as our new chair. We also said goodbye to Board Members Mark Nystrom and Michele Castro, and welcomed Quintin Bauer, Scott Farling, and Morgan Parks as our newest members-at-large. You can read more about our newest members here and if you’re interested in joining the Board in 2018, contact Jackie Wilson for more information.

This year, we are focused on making Oregon Green Schools an even better resource for greening schools in Oregon, by expanding our available resources online, and highlighting more of what our schools are working on. If you have any resources, or stories (or videos!) of the great things you’re doing in your school, send our way to feature on our website and newsletter!

Here’s to a Happy 2018!
