Oregon Green Schools wouldn’t be here without the generous service of volunteers, coordinators, and support staff. We truly appreciate all the hard work and energy that has been extended since our creation in 1997. We especially thank two board members, Jeannie Ramsey and Emily Phillips, and our administrative assistant Jeanette Hardison who resigned from their roles this summer.
Jeannie joined the OGS Board in spring 2013. In her role as Treasurer she has planned fundraising events, kept track of bookkeeping, and helped promote OGS throughout the state. Thankfully we’ll still see Jeannie around, since she will continue to contribute her talents as the official OGS bookkeeper. We thank her for her service on the OGS board and look forward to continuing working with her.
Emily Phillips is moving out of the state while continuing working for Republic Services. She has been involved in OGS since 2012. Some of her projects includes serving as the chair of the Oregon Green Schools Summit, developing two videos as Regional Coordinators’ tools, and working with schools in the Albany/Corvallis/Lebanon area to become certified Oregon Green Schools. Emily shares that: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with all of you in our work to help shape young minds through Oregon Green Schools. I’m going to miss this!” While OGS is sad to see Emily leave, we wish her the best on her new adventure in California.
Jeanette Hardison has been the administrative assistant for OGS since spring 2013. Jeanette has led the charge to communicate with coordinators, the public, and register the many Green, Merit, and Premier Schools. Although Jeannette was sad to leave OGS, she was asked to step into an additional role at her employer, Senior Services Foundation. Jeanette’s passion for education and sustainably continues as she has offered to volunteer for OGS at the Oregon Country Fair and at Summit 2015. We congratulate Jeanette on her promotion and are very thankful for her dedication and heartfelt contribution she has made to the organization.
