On May 11th, thirteen schools from Central Oregon gathered to celebrate the Green School efforts in the region. Approximately 200 showed up to get inspired, celebrate and learn new things.
Schools shared displays, PowerPoints and movies they had made to demonstrate some of the projects they accomplished during the school year. After students check out the schools and voted on their favorite, they traveled around to the “Reclaimed, Renewed and Rethinking Resource Fair”.
Here they learned about making key chains from old bike chain, repurposing crayons, screen printing their own shirts, fusing plastic, planning seeds, making paper and energy efficiency.
At the end of the evening 11 of the schools were awarded as Entry Level or Renewing Oregon Green Schools and 1 school was awarded a Merit Level school, the first in central Oregon! It was a great evening of fun, smiles and Green School Celebration!
