2017 was a great year for Oregon Green Schools. We celebrated 20 years of greening schools across Oregon; received a grant from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality to help bring green teams into rural schools through our Sustainability Captain Program; completed our Strategic Plan, and started a YouTube Channel! 2017 also saw our long-time chair Laurel Bates, and past-chair Bailey Payne, move on from the Board (though they are both still Regional Coordinators and very active with Oregon Green Schools!), which ushered in Jackie Wilson, Regional Coordinator for Bend-area schools and...

From Pamplin Media, November 7, 2017 Waste Not Food Taxi is connecting the dots between food waste and hunger. “Susie Snortum launched her effort in January 2016, and soon after was immediately invited to revamp the Fork It Over program in Beaverton schools, which had fallen dormant. Food donations from Beaverton schools reached record volumes between January and June 2016, at more than a ton of food picked up each week.
